Ossining Mayor Unhappy He's Now In Rockland Legis. District
OSSINING, NY (CBSNewYork) - Ossining Village Mayor William Hanauer is adjusting to the new political reality as state lawmakers carved up legislative districts with an eye toward preserving majority power.

The town and village of Ossining were plucked from the 37th District in Westchester County and lumped in with three Rockland County towns across the Hudson River in the 38th District.
"It's really outrageous that they did this, that without any thought to the discrimination it will cause here in Ossining of irrepresentation," he told WCBS 880 reporter Sean Adams on Tuesday.
Hanauer calls it gerrymandering, plain and simple.
"It's frustrating and it was explained to me that these things happen. Well, yeah. But they shouldn't," he said.
The mayor says State Senator David Carlucci is a good guy, but he is from Rockland and not that familiar with Ossining and its people.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo said he would veto any partisan redrawing of the map, but backed off in exchange for a future Constitutional amendment requiring independent redistricting.
