"Operation Cookie is a cookie baking drive to send cookies to the troops in Afghanistan," said chef Barbara Sibley, who is involved in the effort with the New York Women's Culinary Alliance.
She sees this as a nice way to say thank you.
"If you can do even the smallest thing, you know sometimes it's a small gesture that really can help," she told WCBS 880 reporter Peter Haskell.
The goal is for people to bring two to four dozen cookies. "I'm expecting probably about a hundred drop offs," she said.
Dop offs are welcome Wednesday through Friday at La Palapa - Sibley's restaurant at 77 St. Mark's Place. For information on other drop off times and locations, e-mail lapalapaoffice@aol.com.
