One Of New York's Greatest Summer Events The 'Mermaid Parade' Hits Coney Island
NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) -- Annabella Sciorra was the Queen and Jackie "The Joke Man" Martling, was the King for the 2012 Mermaid Parade on Saturday at Coney Island.

1010 WINS reporter Gary Baumgarten spoke with spectators who came to the parade to catch a glimpse of something special.
"I came from Florida, Tampa to see the Mermaid Parade, and each and every woman in Brooklyn," said one man.
The Parade is the largest art parade in the country and has been going strong since 1983.
The event is meant to be a celebration of the sand, the sea, Coney Island pride, and artistic self-expression. The parade is followed by a Mermaid Parade Ball which features a burlesque show and a number of sideshow acts.
Past parade royalty has included Queen Latifah, Moby, Ron Kuby, and many others.
