On WFAN: Mets' Terry Collins On Injuries To Young, Pagan
NEW YORK (WFAN/AP) -- Mets, meet the injury bug.
The club learned before Monday's loss that right-hander Chris Young might need season-ending surgery after re-injuring his pitching shoulder.
"We saw so many bright things in spring training," Mets manager Terry Collins told WFAN's Mike Francesa on Tuesday. "We thought he was beyond the shoulder problems but they've come back to bite him now."
Young, 1-0 with a 1.88 ERA in four starts, will be out for the long haul.
"He's gonna be out for quite awhile," said Collins.

The Mets selected the contract of left-hander Pat Misch from Triple-A Buffalo over the weekend to take Young's place on the roster. The left-hander allowed one run in two innings with New York in April, and had been 0-2 with a 6.46 ERA in four starts for the Bisons. Dillon Gee pitched in Young's place on Saturday.
Collins also said top pitching prospect Jenrry Mejia will have Tommy John surgery. He had seen renowned orthopedist Dr. James Andrews for a second opinion.
"We've pretty much raided Buffalo as good as we can right now over their starting pitching," Collins said. "So we're really gonna have to get 'er done."
Center fielder Angel Pagan also had a setback in his recovery from a strained left oblique. Pagan returned to New York for an MRI, which showed tenderness on his left side.
"The injury reoccurred down in Florida," Collins said. "He's stopped doing all baseball activities until the pain's gone."
