On WFAN: Jets' Tannenbaum Talks Cromartie-Brady Tiff
NEW YORK (WFAN/AP) -- Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum joined Boomer Esiason and Craig Carton on Thursday morning to discuss Antonio Cromartie's "--- him" comments toward Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, and previews Sunday's New York-New England playoff matchup.
Tannenbaum didn't condone Cromartie's comments, but also didn't condemn them.
"What he said and how he said it, maybe that's not my style, your style, but he spoke from the heart and that's truly how he feels," said Tannenbaum. "Rex always tells his guys, 'Hey, you're accountable for what you say and say what you feel.'
"So again, maybe that's not the way I would have said it, but I think he respects Tom Brady, and what he said was more of how he felt about him personally."

The Jets placed starting right tackle Damien Woody on injured reserve with a left Achilles' tendon injury Wednesday. Woody returned from a right knee problem to play all but the final three plays of last weekend's wild-card win at Indianapolis. He hurt the Achilles' tendon on the final drive and was replaced by Wayne Hunter, who will start Sunday at New England in the divisional round.
"Wayne Hunter has played a lot for us this year," said the Jets GM. "I would be really surprised if he didn't play well, he's a real pro, he's relished the opportunity. You never want to see one of our guys go down, and Damien's done a lot of good things for us, but I'm really happy for Wayne and the opportunity he has."
Despite this week's distractions, Tannenbaum remains confident in his team.
"The more important thing is we've got to go play well on Sunday, including Antonio, and that's the part we feel good about."
