Olajide Noibi, Who Allegedly Snuck Onto Plane With Expired Boarding Pass, Pleads Not Guilty
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - The man at the center of a staggering security breach at John F. Kennedy International Airport pleaded not guilty Monday to breaching airport security.
Olajide Oluwaseun Noibi, 24, appeared in a Los Angeles courtroom. He could get 15 years in prison. He's charged with being a stowaway and attempting to enter a secure airport by fraud or false pretenses.
Noibi allegedly took Virgin American Flight 415 to Los Angeles. He managed to get on board using an expired boarding pass that belonged to someone else and a University of Michigan ID, police said.
Police said Noibi was found with 10 more expired boarding passes in his possession.
Congressman Peter King (R-N.Y.), Chairman of the Homeland Security Committee, called for an investigation into how this breach could've happened.
"I have never seen a case with so many unanswered questions," King said. "Nothing here adds up."
"There's no excuse for this," King added.
The FBI said Noibi attempted the same trick four days later on a Delta flight to Atlanta, but was caught.
Since Noibi's arrest, there have been a number of security breaches at area airports. A stun gun was found aboard a JetBlue flight, and a naked man was found swimming near JFK airport.
