Officials: Multiple Pedestrians Injured By Car That Jumped Curb In Brooklyn
NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) -- Broken glass and debris littered the sidewalk in East Flatbush where a dozen people were reported injured after a car drove onto a sidewalk and struck a scaffolding on Saturday.
Three people were in critical condition at Kings County Hospital on Saturday night following the accident, which occurred at the intersection of Utica and Church Avenues, according to police.
The most seriously injured was a 3-year-old boy, CBS 2's Dave Carlin reported.
Investigators believe that the accident happened when the driver of a sedan made a sudden move to avoid a car that was stopped on Utica Ave, causing him to jump a curb and slam into the scaffolding.
Residents speaking to 1010 WINS reporter Gary Baumgarten described a chaotic scene.
