CORNWALL, Conn. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Connecticut officials have identified a New York man who died after his kayak tipped over in a raging river in Cornwall.
The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection said Sunday that Kenneth Wallace of Huntington Station, N.Y., was pronounced dead Saturday night.
Officials say the 54-year-old Long Island man rolled over and came out of his kayak near the covered bridge in Cornwall over the Housatonic River. His body was recovered more than two hours later.
Wallace's companions, who also are from New York, made it safely to shore.
