6 Swastikas Spray Painted Across Borough Park, Including At School, Synagogue
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Brooklyn lawmakers are vowing to find those responsible after six swastikas were found painted at multiple locations, including a school, in Borough Park Friday morning.
According to Assemblyman Dov Hikind, local resident found the first swastika painted on a synagogue on 16th Avenue. The other locations vandalized included two stores that were spray-painted, a school, a ritual bath house and a van parked on the street, CBS 2's John Slattery reported.

"This isn't about graffiti, this is about hate," Hikind told 1010 WINS. "That swastika represents that ultimate symbol of hate and whenever you see one, it's obviously something that hurts everybody and we just hope they apprehend the people responsible for this."
Later Friday, attempts were made to clean off the vandalized locations. One of the stores had a surveillance cameras trained on the entrance. Police have recovered a picture of two young men they believe are responsible and that surveillance video was circulated to media outlets Friday night.

Councilman David Greenfield is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction.

"Once again, we find ourselves under attack from individuals who think nothing of spreading hate and fear throughout the community. This is absolutely unacceptable, especially in an area that is home to so many Holocaust survivors," Greenfield said in a statement. "Rest assured, I will work with the NYPD until those responsible for this horrific crime are caught and held responsible."
