Obama Wins, So What's Next For America?
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Now that President Obama is staying in the White House for four more years, it's time to peer into the future and take a look at what's ahead of us.
Democratic political analyst John Hlinko and Republican strategist Jessica Proud visited The Couch on Wednesday to discuss what's next for our country.
"I don't think anyone can look at this election as a mandate," said Proud. "[President Obama] still has massive problems that he's going to have to deal with, the Senate hasn't passed a budget for three years...they have a massive deficit and debt to deal with."
Hlinko agreed.
"It's a very close election and the country is very split but we've got to work together," he said.
Those on both sides of the debate called for both parties to come together.
"I think the country is very much divided right now and he's going to have to come in there and put forth an olive branch and some sort of bipartisan agreement here to get some of these economic issues done," Proud said.
Hlinko added:
"People are treating this, on both sides, like it's the Red Sox and the Yankees - you know, 'Yeah! My team won!' - the difference here is that after the game is over, we actually need to get together and start working together, cause we have real problems to solve and I don't know if that's going to happen."
