Obama Expected To Visit Connecticut Next Week In Push For Raising Minimum Wage
HARTFORD, Conn. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Connecticut is expecting a presidential visit next week.
A post on Gov. Dannel Malloy's Twitter account said President Barack Obama will be in the state next Wednesday for a "Raise the Wage'' event.
White House officials said Obama will attend an event in the Hartford area, but few other details have been released regarding the visit.
Obama, Malloy and other fellow Democrats are pushing for an increase in the minimum wage from $7.25 an hour to $10.10 an hour.
Malloy met with Obama along with other governors at the White House on Monday to discuss the president's economic policies.
Following the visit, Malloy and Louisiana Republican Gov. Bobby Jindal got involved in an on-camera partisan argument in front of the West Wing.
