NYU Student Claim Labor Violations Plague Abu Dhabi Outpost Project
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Several NYU students have accused the university's board of trustees of turning a blind eye to abusive labor practices at its outpost in the United Arab Emirates.
As WCBS 880's Marla Diamond reported, the controversy centers upon NYU Board of Trustees member Khaldoon Al-Mubarak, who is also the chief executive officer of one of the construction companies building the NYU outpost in Abu Dhabi.

The company was named in a recently-released report on worker abuse, which students say violates NYU's statement of labor values.
"When board members are derelict in their duty, or flatly pursue their own interest, we would want to see them be held accountable," said first-year NYU law student Hugh Baran.
A university spokesman said the labor issues were a surprise to everyone, including Al-Mubarak, and added that the university is committed to rectifying the situation.
