NYT Travel Show Opens At The Javits Center
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - From an African safari to a trip to SeaWorld and everything between. There's something for every taste and budget at the New York Times Travel Show at the Javits Center.

There is also expert advice too from folks like Pauline Frommer from the Frommer travel guides.
She says exiting the recession, more people are traveling again and prices are going up.
"With the high cost of airfare, one of the things we're going to be talking about on Saturday is how to save on everything else, because unfortunately airfare is somewhat of a given. It's going to be higher than last year. But there are ways to save on it and we'll discuss that. But you really want to be saving on your biggest expense which is lodgings," she told WCBS 880 reporter Sean Adams on Friday.
There will be travel tips, a chance to book trips, cooking demos, and wine tastings - a little something from every continent.
Among the attractions at the show is something exotic from down under. Brandon Davis from SeaWorld introduced Adams to it.
"It's an ekidna. An ekidna is an Australian animal. It's one of only two mammals in the world that lay eggs. They look kind of like a hedgehog, and then they've got a long actual beak like a duck," he told Adams.
"Those quills look somewhat sharp," observed Adams.
"They are, but you can pet them. You can pet them. You just go along with the quills," said David. "If you go the wrong way, they're gonna stick you."
The show opened today at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center on West 34th Street. It runs through Sunday.
