Power Restored To Thousands After Substation Fire In Carmel

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Tens of thousands of customers in the northern suburbs lost power Thursday night after a substation fire.
The fire at the NYSEG substation in Carmel cut power to customers in three counties, officials told CBS2.
At the peak of the outage, some 61,500 customers were without power.
There was no word on what caused the fire.
NYSEG restored power at around 12:40 a.m. Friday.
