NY's Maccabeats Out With New Acapella Thanksgivukkah Cover Song
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - The Jewish acapella group The Maccabeats have released their latest Chanukah cover.
This year, the group celebrates the extremely rare phenomenon of Thanksgivukkah. Due to a calendar anomaly, the 8-day celebration of Chanukah overlaps with Thanksgiving this year.
The Maccabeats, who formed at Yeshiva University in 2007, cover Ellie Goulding's "Burn" this year.
The group rocketed to fame with their 2010 parody cover of Taio Cruz's "Dynamite," by changing the words in their version titled "Candlelight" all about Chanukah traditions.
The group has been invited by Mayor Michael Bloomberg to perform at Gracie Mansion.
The Maccabeats will perform later this month at Chabad of Greenwich and Congregation Agudath Sholom in Stamford, Conn. They'll also serve as the halftime act at the Dec. 3 Brooklyn Nets game at Barclays Center.
