NYPD To Probe Bullying Link To Suicide Of 12-Year-Old East Harlem Boy
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police are now investigating whether bullying lead to the suicide of a 12-year-old East Harlem boy.
The family of Joel Morales said the boy hanged himself Tuesday night because he had been intensely picked on by other students.
The bullying persisted even after Morales transferred from one school to another, relatives said.
Neighbors said Morales' mother even contacted police to report the bullying.
The Department of Education said they cannot comment.
