NYPD Tests Candy Bar For Clues In Slaying

NEW YORK (AP) -- A candy bar may hold the key to solving a murder in New York City.

Police say a man who shot a Bronx gas station attendant to death during an apparent robbery on Thursday grabbed a Snickers bar from a counter near the cash register as the heist began.

But authorities say he dropped the candy as he fled the scene after shooting two station employees.

The New York Post reported Saturday that the bar is now being tested for fingerprints.

Authorities said the slain 35-year-old worker, Lamine Diop, was shot three times in the leg.

A second 37-year-old worker was shot in the torso and arm. He was expected to recover.

A friend told the Post that Diop was originally from Senegal and moved to the U.S. 13 years ago.
