Police: Queens Teen Beaten With Brick, Critically Injured
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Police are trying to identify a suspect who they said attacked a 16-year-old girl, leaving her in critical condition.
The two were walking in an alley near 43rd Street in Astoria, Queens, around 10:45 p.m. Tuesday when the suspect attacked her, police said.

Surveillance video of the suspect shows him running from the scene and dropping what appears to be a brick he used in the attack.

The girl was taken to Elmhurst General Hospital with severe head injuries. She is listed in critical but stable condition, CBS 2's John Slattery reported.
It wasn't immediately known if the two knew each other.
"This is a vicious attack - whether they knew each other or didn't know each other," Councilman Peter Vallone Jr. told Slattery. "Really no excuse for this. This guy is an animal. And luckily we have this videotape."
Police said the suspect is a black male in his 20s and is about 6-feet-tall. He was wearing a dark jacket, white t-shirt, blue jeans, black sneakers and dark gloves.
