NYPD: Suspect Arrested In Stabbing Near West Indian Day Parade
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A suspect has been arrested in connection with one of two fatal stabbings that happened after the West Indian American Day Parade in Brooklyn on Monday.
The separate stabbings took place along Eastern Parkway in Crown Heights.

The first incident happened just before 6 p.m. near Bedford Park and Eastern Parkway. When cops arrived, they found 27-year-old Leandre Mallinckrodt stabbed in the neck, police said.
He was taken to the hospital where he later died.
The second incident happened about 30 minutes later on St. John's Place where a 26-year-old man was also stabbed in the neck, police said. He died at the hospital.

Gabriel Hernandez was arrested in connection with that stabbing and is charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon, police said.
Also Monday, a 24-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman were shot on Eastern Parkway, but their injuries were not considered life threatening.
The violence occurred despite a stepped-up police presence following similar problems last year when three people were killed.
