NYPD: Son Of NYU Vice President Hurt In Holdup
NEW YORK (AP) -- The NYPD says one of two men wounded at a Greenwich Village apartment during a holdup is the son of a New York University vice president.
Police spokesman Paul Browne identified the man as Alex Bongard. He is the son of Debra LaMorte, senior vice president for development and alumni affairs at NYU.
Police said the holdup was believed to be drug related.
NYU said one of the men had previously attended its continuing education program. It did not elaborate. It said the incident did not occur in a NYU building.
Police say 24-year-old Bongard and Lucas Hinde were both shot in the chest at Bongard's apartment Monday night by two men wearing masks.
The wounded men were in stable condition. The gunmen remained at large Wednesday.
