NYPD Seeking Suspect In Armored Car Heist In The Bronx
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Police are looking for a man who allegedly stole about $400,000 from an unlocked armored car in the Bronx before driving off in the truck.
Police released a surveillance video that shows the man getting into the back of the Rapid Armored truck, which was left running at East Fordham and East Kingsbridge roads on July 30.
He puts the money in a bag and then hops into the driver's seat and drives off, police said.
The man later abandoned the truck on Valentine Avenue where he jumped into a silver getaway car, police said.
Officials are investigating whether the heist is part of a string of robberies involving the same company.
On Aug. 22, a masked suspect dressed all in black robbed a Rapid Armored truck driver as he was making a delivery in Canarsie, police said. The suspect took a white duffel bag that the driver said contained $500,000 and fled, police said.
Last November, police said two men robbed a Rapid Armored truck guard as he was making a delivery to a check cashing business on East 155th Street and 3rd Avenue in the Bronx.
