NYPD Releases Photo Of Brooklyn Child Sex Assault Suspect

By DAVE CARLIN

NEW YORK (CBS 2) -- A Brooklyn neighborhood was on edge Friday night, more than a week after an 11-year-old girl was sexually assaulted in broad daylight.

Police have just released new information in the case.

"He will meet his match and he will get caught," Flatbush resident Natalie Cox said.

Newly released security photos have Flatbush residents on high alert.

Police, anxious to enlist the help of the public, shared thee latest clues: Images of a predator, moments after he sexually assaulted the little girl.

"This person took away her innocence. I feel like this person should go to jail, if not do life," resident Rico Gaston said.

It was early afternoon on July 22 near the Bedford and Flatbush avenues. He followed the elementary school student home -- into the building -- and attacked her in a stairwell.

"It's scary because I have a niece and nephew," resident Nehemie Pierre said.

Police also released a sketch. The man: in his 30s, 5-foot-11, with a medium build. His shirt was blue. His sweatpants and baseball cap were grey.

"He could be walking right around me right now," one parent said. "He could have kids in my school. You don't know because now you can't even tell any more. It could be any random person."

The predator is still on the loose eight days after the attack. Residents said that has them feeling angry and nervous in this neighborhood full of schools, day care centers and playgrounds.

"I wouldn't even send her out of my sight," Cox said.

She said this is a neighborhood where people protect each others' children and she predicts no one will rest until the man she calls a monster is off the streets.

Anyone with information about the suspect should immediately contact the NYPD.
