NYPD: Officers Find Loaded Gun, Drugs On Subway Turnstile Jumper In Brooklyn
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A routine stop of a subway turnstile jumper netted a cache of weapons and drugs in Brooklyn, the NYPD said.
Officers Soner Ozuk, Thomas Binstock and Dereck Rankin stopped the suspect, identified as 32-year-old Damien Brunson of Schenectady, at the High Street train station around 8:30 p.m. Thursday.
Brunson turned out to be a transit recidivist which precluded him from receiving a summons, police said.
A search of the suspect's pockets and knapsack revealed a loaded Smith and Wesson .38 revolver handgun, crack cocaine and marijuana.
Brunson faces several charges including criminal possession of controlled substance and criminal possession of a loaded firearm.
