NYPD Nabs 18 Suspects In High-End Car Theft Ring
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- The New York Police Department has charged more than a dozen suspects involved in a high-end car theft ring that spanned the Tri-State area.
Authorities said the 18 suspects stole and resold 48 luxury cars worth $2.4 million.
Queens District Attorney Richard Brown announced the charges Wednesday after an 18-month investigation.

Brown said the suspects targeted expensive models such as a $196,000 Bentley convertible and a $105,000 Mercedes Benz.
Many of the cars were stolen from dealerships in New York, Connecticut and New Jersey, Brown said.
The alleged thieves are said to have changed the vehicle identification numbers, registered the cars with forged titles and used brokers to resell the stolen rides.
"The cars were being brokered and sold in Queens to various brokers, dealers and middle-men," NYPD Deputy Inspector Joseph Kenny told 1010 WINS.

All 18 are charged with enterprise corruption, grand larceny, forgery and other crimes. Three of them are also facing drug charges.
