LISTEN: WCBS 880's Sean Adams reports
The NYPD held a drill today in the Bronx and WCBS 880 reporter Sean Adams was there. Here is a blow-by-blow account of part of the exercise.
----
There's another explosion right in front of them. You have officers down.
A voice yells "Suicide bomber!"
Two officers down.
Officers assisting each other into an armored vehicle.
One is limping. He's being assisted inside.
Another is being carried. His body is limp.
There have been multiple explosions.
Civilians have been killed in a hotel.
This is chaos and these officers, as they're training, they don't know what's going to happen next.
The idea here is to have them learn what to look for, how to respond, and to make it second nature.
