NYPD: Bank Robbery Suspect Dressed As Postal Worker During Heists
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- The NYPD is looking for a man who robbed two banks in Queens wearing a postal uniform.
Police said the man walked into a Capital One bank at 9:01 a.m. Monday, handed the teller a note and brandished a gun, then made off with an undisclosed amount of money.
Police believe the same person robbed a second Capital One bank nearby 10 minutes later. He showed off a gun the second time and made off with more cash.
The suspect was described as a man wearing glasses and a postal uniform.
It's not clear if the suspect was a U.S. Postal Service employee or if he was just wearing a uniform as a disguise.
An unknown amount of money taken from both banks. The suspect fled in an unknown direction.
The investigation is ongoing.
