Starting in Staten Island, the 26.2 mile race takes runners through Brooklyn, Williamsburg, Greenpoint, Long Island City, across the Queensboro Bridge, into Harlem, and ends in Central Park. Every year thousands of people cheer on the runners all along the path. For the best viewing opportunity we recommend that you stand along the famed "Museum Mile" between 89th and 102nd St. on Fifth Ave. If you don't mind braving the crowds, belly up to the barricades on Central Park South – the marathon's homestretch.
