Need a little extra - both at lunch and in your wallet? Go no further than the nearest Canz, where Monday through Friday, from 11:30a - 3:00p, a five spot gets you 6 ounces of seasoned beef topped with lettuce & tomato, served with a nice cold 12 oz can of Bud Light. Big eater? Create your own platter: cheese additions run 75c each, 'shrooms, caramelized onions, bacon or crispy onions $1, French fries or sweet potato fries add $1.50, while the tater tots are $1 and a simple cole slaw & pickle combo is 50c. Go crazy - with prices like these, your wallet will not suffer!
There are worse things in life than drinking craft beer in the same place it's brewed, while enjoying a beautiful burger that leaves your mouth smiling and your face glistening. Check out the 10 Oz Shortrib Burger, boasting Pat La Freida short rib meat, your choice of blue cheese, Swiss, cheddar, lettuce, tomato, and onions on a Portuguese for a simple $15. Soak in your surroundings while you enjoy that beauty, and know that your beer is about as local as they come while you're there.
Long lauded as one of - if not the - best burger in NYC, Shake Shack also has a small range of interesting beers from which to choose to accompany this burger. Indulge in the Shackmeister Ale, a light and refreshing cream ale that will not overwhelm the burger, but instead happily play second fiddle. Enjoy your burger with the standards - and if the weather is good, visit the original location in Madison Square Park to watch the aggressive squirrels beg for scraps. If the weather's chilly, no fear: they have heat lamps as well.
If you enjoy pub-style burgers, Donovan's is the place for you. Their giant meaty burgers are served on grilled buns, alongside your standard Irish pub beers. Some laud the burger as the best in the city, though it's all a matter of preference; if you like smaller burgers you definitely will not be happy here. Big burger lovers rejoice, though, as the burgers here are huge enough to satisfy even the biggest of eaters. Bonus: The soups are rather tasty as well.
Guilty Goose recently launched a new lunch specials menu, and included in that is a $15 burger & beer lunch deal: A chuck short-rib blend burger topped with white cheddar, sherry onions and pickled vegetables on a sesame brioche bun, served with your choice of the eight beers on tap. The spot is ideal for beer lovers. Choose from Maduro American Brown Ale, Sweet Action Cream Ale, Jai Alai IPA, Radeberger Pilsner, Big Apple IPA, Allagash White Wheat, Marshal Zhukov's Imperial Stout, or Donnybrook Stout.
