Scattered snow showers expected around NYC area today. Map shows how much.
NEW YORK -- The weather around New York City will start to change Thursday. We say "so long" to those gusty winds, but we do have a little bit of snow to talk about.
Our First Alert Weather team has a look at the latest conditions and what's ahead.
NYC weather forecast today
We got off to another bitterly cold start with wind chills stuck in the teens. Thankfully, the winds will be less of a factor later today, but even so, it will only feel like the 20s, at best.
Our skies won't be quite as nice today, however, as clouds ultimately take over this afternoon. It's around this time, we'll watch some snow showers ease in from the west and linger through the evening.
At this point, it looks like we could even see some light accumulations, particularly inland and across Long Island, where any snow activity is more organized.
Weather this weekend around NYC
Looking ahead to Friday, it's the "Pick of the Week" runner-up, with lots of sunshine and temperatures closer to normal.
Saturday is looking a little dicey with some showers around. While it doesn't appear to be a washout, you'll need to keep the umbrella handy.
As for Sunday, we're watching a system that could brush the area with a little more snow.
