After a very mild Saturday that felt more like late April than late March, temperatures will plunge into the 20s and 30s by Sunday morning.
A steady breeze, with gusts possibly as high as 40 mph, will produce biting windchills in the teens and low 20s overnight. Winds will eventually relax by Sunday afternoon, leading to a bright, but much cooler day, with highs only reaching the upper 40s to low 50s.
Rain expected to arrive in NYC Monday morning
Our attention then turns to our next precipitation event, which arrives in the very early hours of Monday morning. It is likely to start off as a period of wet snow for the northwestern suburbs before changing over to a plain rain.
Following the trends of Friday, forecast models are still indicating that around a half inch of rain will fall regionwide, while up to 2 inches of snow may accumulate in the far northwestern suburbs.
The rain will be light to moderate at times, with the most amount of coverage and intensity occurring before the morning commute.
After the morning commute, light rain and drizzle could persist throughout the day, especially to the south and east of the city.
