NEW YORK -- Temperatures are down again Thursday around New York City, as the weather rollercoaster continues through the end of the week.

Here's what our First Alert Weather team is tracking for the next few days.

Cold returns, then freezing rain

The mercury tumbled overnight, with wind chills in the teens and single digits around dawn. By this afternoon, believe it or not, we're talking highs in the 30s — about 15° colder than yesterday.

Tomorrow is the next day we're watching, as it looks a bit more active, but milder. That said, plan on having the umbrella, not the snow boots.

Worth mentioning though, our northwest suburbs may be just cold enough in the morning to support some patchy freezing rain. That said, the National Weather Service went ahead and issued a winter weather advisory from about 2 a.m. to 10 a.m. Friday for a glaze or so of ice.

As for this weekend, cold air makes a comeback, with perhaps a few flakes and drops in the mix later in the day on Sunday.
