NYC Unveiling New App For Restaurants, Stores, Attractions And More
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A new free smartphone app will help tourists navigate New York City's restaurants, stores, attractions and more.
NYC Map is slated to be unveiled Monday by NYC and Co., the city's tourism and marketing arm. It was designed by CityMaps, a local start-up.
The app will provide access to nearly 90,000 restaurants, stores, attractions, hotels and bars. Its features include reservation bookings on OpenTable, movie ticket purchases via Fandago and information about public transportation.

Users can also check in on Foursquare, send tweets and upload photos.
George Fertitta, CEO of NYC and Co., says the visual effects of the app will make it very easy to use.
"The way the map is outlined, it's just very easy for people to get around New York whether you speak English or not," he told 1010 WINS. "It's just really another way of living up to the manageability mandate that Mayor Bloomberg has as it relates to visitors and residents."
Fertitta says there are a lot of features that make this app different from other ones out there.
"There's no other app that I'm aware of that has the logos and the formats of the respective stores," he said. "They might have a name and they might provide an address, but they don't have a logo and I think that's a big distinction."
The iPhone app will be available for download on iTunes. For more information, click here.
