NYC Sports Bar Owned By Jay-Z Fails Health Inspection
NEW YORK (AP) -- Hip-hop superstar Jay-Z reopened his New York City nightspot, the 40/40 Club, this week after a renovation, only to have its kitchen promptly shut down for health code violations.
The city's health department said it closed the club's restaurant on Jan. 19 after inspectors found a number of problems.
The violations included failing to keep refrigerated food cold enough, not keeping hot foot hot enough, and letting workers prepare food with their bare hands.
The failing inspection came on Thursday, a day after the club celebrated its relaunch with a celebrity-studded party.
The New York Post reports that the problems were corrected Friday night and the restaurant reopened.
Club spokesman Ron Berkowitz tells the newspaper there was "no interruption in service or sales.''
