1 Killed, 7 Injured In Separate Shootings Across Three Boroughs
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- One person was killed and at least seven were injured in separate shootings in Queens, Brooklyn and the Bronx on Tuesday.
The first shooting happened on Far Rockaway Boulevard in Far Rockaway just after 2 p.m.
According to police, an unknown individual walked into the courtyard of a building and fired into a crowd of people. Three people were struck.
A 19-year-old man was shot in the back, a 20-year-old woman was shot twice in the leg, and a 20-year-old man was shot in the chest.
The 20-year-old man -- who has been identified as Christopher Campbell, of Queens -- died at the hospital.
The other two victims are expected to be OK.
Police say the motive for the shooting is unclear at this time.

The second shooting happened around 4:45 p.m. in Bedford-Stuyvesant.
Police say two male suspects drove up to three men who were standing outside a housing project on Dekalb Avenue and fired at them.
All three victims are in their 20s. One was last reported to be in critical condition.
"I heard, like, five shots go off," one man told CBS2's Alice Gainer. "I felt kind of scared at first, but then I was like, oh, it's some New York stuff, so, you know, it happens regularly over here around these parts."
Both investigations are ongoing.
Also on Tuesday, one person was shot in the Bronx and another in Long Island City.

Year to date, the number of people shot in New York City is up more than 97% compared to last year.
Tuesday excluded, there were 22 shooting incidents citywide from Friday to Monday over Labor Day weekend.
Four people died, including 62-year-old Michael Scully, who was walking his dog Monday morning in Bay Ridge when police say he got into an argument with a man who shot him multiple times in the head and shoulders.
Fifty-two-year-old George Vayos has now been charged with his murder.
Police have also now charged 15-year-old Donovan Bailey as an adult in the shooting of five people, including a 7-year-old child, at an unofficial J'Ouvert gathering early Monday morning in Crown Heights.
"Except for that incident, overwhelmingly, we had a peaceful weekend in central Brooklyn," Mayor Bill de Blasio said.
According to the NYPD, while shootings are up, they're making more gun arrests.
Last week, they hit a 25-year high in gun arrests with a total of 160 firearms confiscated.
"One of the things that has shown success in curbing the violence is putting cops on overtime," NYPD Chief of Detectives Rodney Harrison said.
