NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) - As if ticket fixing isn't serious enough, New York City Public Advocate Bill de Blasio says there are even more troublesome allegations involving the NYPD.

He says that cops tried to cover up drunk driving and domestic violence incidents involving other officers.

"That's incredibly troubling and unacceptable," de Blasio told WCBS 880 reporter Peter Haskell.

So, de Blasio is asking Police Commissioner Ray Kelly to be more forthcoming.

"I think it's time that they come out and say, 'here's an investigation. This is how long it's going to take. This is what we're looking at,'" de Blasio said.

He has written a formal letter to Kelly.

"We need the facts and we need them sooner rather than later," says de Blasio.

A police spokesman insists none of the allegations have been verified.

The AP reported that several high ranking city lawmakers and a New York Yankees official are among those who allegedly had tickets thrown out, in exchange for payment or gifts.

So far, no criminal charges have been filed.
