Cleanup Underway After Storm Dumps Over Foot Of Snow In Parts Of NYC
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A big cleanup was underway Thursday in New York City, where the storm dumped over a foot of snow in some neighborhoods.
Central Park saw more than 8 inches of snow while more than 13 inches of snow fell in parts of Queens.
Bayside resident Helen Efstathiou said she and her husband shoveled for hours.
"It's heavy. It's very heavy," she told CBS2's Marc Liverman. "I started from the top coming down. He started from the garage coming out. You have to do something in order to get out."
After the past month of storms, she had a message for the weather gods.
"Enough," she said. "Enough."
Meanwhile, crews were out early in Crown Heights, Brooklyn removing a tree that fell across the Eastern Parkway.
In the West Village, heavy, wet snow and gusty winds sent a large tree limb toppling onto a parked vehicle Wednesday at West 11th Street and West 4th Street. No injuries were reported.
New York City public schools were open Thursday. Alternate side parking is suspended.
