NYC Health Department To Spray For Mosquitoes In Queens
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Crews with the New York City Health Department will be spraying pesticide in Queens Wednesday to reduce mosquitoes and the risk of West Nile Virus.
The pesticide trucks will be spraying between 8:30 p.m. until 6 a.m. Thursday in Bayside, Douglaston, Glen Oaks, Little Neck and Oakland Gardens.
People are urged to stay indoors while their neighborhood is being treated, especially those with asthma. Air conditioners can remain on, but if you're concerned, officials say you should set the unit on re-circulate.
Health officials also advise that residents remove children's toys, outdoor equipment and clothes from outdoor areas during spraying. If outdoor equipment and toys are exposed to pesticides, wash them with soap and water before using again.
