NYC Comptroller John Liu To Review Campaign Donations
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- New York City Comptroller John Liu says he'll conduct an internal review of his campaign donations following allegations of irregularities.
The New York Times on Wednesday raised questions about the source of his campaign donations. Among other things, some people listed as campaign donors said they never gave Liu money. Others say someone else made the donations in their name.
Liu is a Democrat and a potential 2013 mayoral candidate.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Liu says he doesn't want or need contributions unless they're "fully above board."
He told the Times the number of donors in question was relatively small.
The Campaign Finance Board didn't directly comment on the alleged irregularities but said it does examine allegations raised by external sources.
