NY Waterway Bringing New Ferry Service To East River
"On June 13, ferry service will start on the East River. It'll go from Brooklyn to Queens to Manhattan. It'll be a great environmentally friendly, fun way for New Yorkers to commute," said City Council Speaker Christine Quinn.
The ferry service, run by NY Waterway, will operate year-round.
The ferries will stop at the following locations: East 34th Street / Midtown, Manhattan; Hunters Point / Long Island City, Queens; India Street / Greenpoint, Brooklyn; North 6th Street / North Williamsburg, Brooklyn; Schaefer Landing / South Williamsburg, Brooklyn; Brooklyn Bridge Park / DUMBO, Brooklyn; and Wall Street / Pier 11, Manhattan.

The ferries will run every 20 minutes during weekday rush hours.

"There will be a seasonal addition to Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn and to Governors Island," said Quinn. "An additional bonus is that the first two weeks are free."
"You know, New York City, we are a river city, and, for some reason, in our past, we turned our backs on the river. We now, starting June 13, are going to re-embrace our rivers as our great blue highway," added Quinn.
