NY September 11th Memorial Donates 40 Trees To Flight 93 Memorial Site In Shanksville
NEW YORK (CBS 2/AP) -- Pennsylvania is receiving a 9/11 donation courtesy of New York.
Forty sweet gum trees are heading to the Flight 93 National Memorial near Shanksville. The National Park Service calls the gift a symbol of the ties between the memorials for victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
The National September 11th Memorial in New York donated the trees to the site.
The first three sweet gum trees were planted Saturday. The remaining 37 will be put in the ground throughout the next few weeks.
The 40 trees represent each person who died in the plane crash.
