NY Real Estate Developers Look To Social Media
HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (AP) -- More than 200 brokers, developers and others in the real estate trade are learning that social media sites like Facebook should be an integral part of their business.
A conference this week at Hofstra University pointed out the advantages to developers in providing the community details about their projects using social media.
Inspiration for the conference grew out of a recent effort by a band of residents in Huntington Station, N.Y., on Long Island's north shore.
They successfully marshaled opposition to a $100 million housing development, largely relying on social media like Facebook.
Real estate folks say they are learning from the opposition and intend to have their own sites available to provide accurate information about their plans.
