NY Police: Suspect Shoots Man Who Shot Him In '08
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (AP) -- Authorities say the third exchange of gunfire in four years between two Hudson Valley men has left one of them dead and the other in jail on a murder charge.
Police say 27-year-old Derrick West Jr. shot 26-year-old Bashawn Edwards Thursday night in an apartment complex parking lot in Poughkeepsie. Officers say Edwards died of a single gunshot wound to the chest.
West was charged with second-degree murder and is being held in Dutchess County Jail without bail.
Police say security cameras at the complex recorded the attack.
Edwards pleaded guilty in April 2008 to shooting West four months earlier.
In late 2006, West was charged with shooting Edwards. Information on the outcome of that case wasn't available.
It couldn't be immediately determined Friday if West had a lawyer.
