NY Lawmaker Tries To Help Homeowners Save Money By Going Green
SPRING VALLEY, NY (WCBS 880) - New York State Sen. David Carlucci is urging Gov. Andrew Cuomo to sign the Power New York Act of 2011.

Under the act, you'd be able to make energy efficient upgrades to your home with no out-of-pocket expense. The cost would just be added to your monthly utility bill until the loan is paid off.
"It is an expensive process and a lot of people don't have any extra money to shell out right now in this tough economic time. So, with the on-bill financing this is a real painless way of making your home energy efficient," said Carlucci. "Adding new windows to your home to cut out drafts. It could be things like solar panels."
Carlucci says the bill is a win-win.
He says it would help residents save money, help the environment, and stimulate the economy.
"In this economic climate, I think it's important that we focus on how we're going to put New Yorkers to work, and this is a simple way to do that - by putting contractors to work and saving the hard working families in New York the money that they need to put back in their pocket," Carlucci told WCBS 880 reporter Catherine Cioffi.
