NY Food Truck Lunch: Schnitz Burger From Schnitzel & Things
Perry, the voice behind New York Street Food, brings you his latest review on New York City food trucks.
The very first food truck we ever tried was Schnitzel & Things (S&T), way back in the Summer of 2009. That's an eternity in food truck years.
Not only were S&T pioneers in the New York food truck scene , but they are still one of the best food trucks around.
You can't go wrong with any of their schnitzels, but we wanted to try something a little different. The schnitz burger, which comes with 2 sides and costs $10.

We ordered the schnitz burger with fries and cucumber salad, and asked what condiments they suggested. They recommended the ginger, scallion and garlic relish and ketchup, which sounded pretty good.
And it was very good. We've never had a lightly breaded and deep fried burger, and now we can see what we've been missing all these years.
The burger was medium-done and moist, the perfect antidote to a cold, rainy winter day.
The ginger, scallion and garlic relish and ketchup were good choices for condiments, with the scallion adding nicely to the mix instead of onion, which can overpower some burgers.
We're not sure where the roll came from, but it was really good, too. It held it's own under the burger and condiment onslaught.
The fries and cucumber salad were enjoyable too. After eating the schnitz burger, the cucumber salad at least let us pretend that we were eating healthy.
You can also get the schnitz-burger without side dishes for $8.
The Schnitzel & Things truck hits various neighborhoods, so check their Twitter account here or our Mobile Munchies Twitter feed.
If you are in Midtown East, Schnitzel & Things also has a small storefront at 723 Third Ave, between 45th & 46th St. The store is every bit as good as the truck.
