Not Winning! Reds Fan Charlie Sheen Admits He Had No Faith In Favorite Team
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Charlie Sheen has watched his beloved Cincinnati Reds make the playoffs three times in four years.
Too bad all those runs ended in the first round.
Cincy clinched its latest letdown on Tuesday night in front of a raucous Pittsburgh crowd, losing to the Pirates 6-2 in the National League wild card game.
"It was certainly October baseball, and congratulations to the city of Pittsburgh and the Pirates," Sheen told Fox Sports in an on-field chat after the game. "I knew flying here that I would be giving this postgame interview. I just knew it. I didn't feel like we had a shot."
It's safe to say Sheen's team could have used an infusion of his infamous "tiger blood." Amid mocking chants from Pirates fans, Reds starter Johnny Cueto dropped the baseball on the mound in the second inning. Cueto insisted he wasn't rattled, but it was clear from the start that this was Pittsburgh's night.
The Pirates won three straight over Cincinnati to close out the regular season. Now they'll hit the road for Thursday's start of the best-of-five NLDS.
"It's hard to beat a team four in a row. But you guys did, so congratulations," Sheen said. "Just do me a favor -- beat St. Louis.
"Beat St. Louis, hell yeah. Beat St. Louis."
