Not All Chapters Are "Gone With The Wind" At CT Library
NEW YORK (WCBS 880) - Four chapters of the original, type-written manuscript of "Gone With The Wind" will be on display this weekend at the Pequot Library in South Port, Conn.
Many fans of the classic book "Gone With The Wind" believe the original manuscript was burned following the death of author Margaret Mitchell.

Mitchell, overwhelmed by the celebrity of her book, instructed her husband to burn the pages of her original manuscript.
Mitchell's husband burned all but four chapters of the manuscript.
"This is the type script that was sent up to New York from Atlanta and published at Gone with the Wind. Which is the best selling novel in American history," said Dan Snydacker, Director of the Pequot Library.
The library received the chapters in the 1950s from George Brett. Brett was Mitchell's publisher and at the time was the library's director.
The exhibit begins at 3 p.m. and runs through May 7, in honor of the book's 75th anniversary.
