Norman Rockwell Painting Stolen From Queens Storage Facility
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Tuesday were searching for a thief who took a Norman Rockwell painting from a storage facility in the Maspeth section of Queens.
Around 7 p.m. Sept. 13, the painting entitled "Sport" was discovered missing from the Welpak Art Moving and Storage facility at 58-60 Grand Ave. in Queens.
The painting is about 22 inches by 28 inches and is oil paint on canvas, and was housed in a wooden frame. It shows a man in a row boat named "Sport" wearing a yellow rain jacket and a hat outfitted with lures, smoking a pipe and holding a fishing pole.
Rockwell painted the picture in 1939, and it was used as a Saturday Evening Post cover.
