No Toll Hikes Coming To Tappan Zee Bridge, Thruway In 2014
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - Drivers who take the Tappan Zee Bridge will not see a toll hike in 2014, the Thruway Authority announced.
As WCBS 880's Sean Adams reported, New York State Thruway Authority Executive Director Thomas Madison announced at a Thursday board meeting that the tolls along the entire Thruway will also stay flat next year.
A finance task force will be created by the end of the year to explore toll options to help finance a new bridge.

There's been speculation about a $14 or $15 toll for the new Tappan Zee, currently under construction.
Rockland County's new County Executive Ed Day said he will fight for a much lower toll.
"The cost should be brought across the entire Thruway. Frankly, I'm not really impressed at the fact that all we've gotten is a loan on the Tappan Zee Bridge. We should see the federal government give us money here to get this bridge, which is part of the interstate," Day told Adams. "My number in my mind is a lot less. I compare the bridge to the bridges north of us who are run by authorities and not by bridges south of us who have other interests involved - real estate, airports and subways."
The record $1.6 billion federal loan has helped boost the Thruway Authority's credit outlook from negative to stable.
