No, Buckner And Mookie Won't Be Doing 1st Pitch At Fenway
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Jay Horwitz strikes again!
The New York Mets public relations chief -- and social media funny guy -- sparked yet another rumor with a tweet Thursday morning: "Forgive and forget. In a unique ceremony before Game. 2 of the WS tonight, Mookie Wilson will throw a first pitch to Bill Buckner. Nice."
Those who follow Horwitz know to take such things with a grain of salt. He sent reporters scrambling earlier this year when he wrote the Mets and Colorado Rockies would play a triple-header. He also caused a stink in May when he tweeted that ace Matt Harvey would leave the team to catch a New York Rangers playoff game. That wasn't true either.

Still, the Buckner-Mookie "story" gained some traction before being debunked.
So there you have it.
What we do know: Mariano Rivera will be honored by Commissioner Bud Selig prior to Game 2 at Fenway Park.
So there will be a bit of a New York flavor. Just not Buckner and Mookie, the players who were at the center of the famous ending to Game 6 of the 1986 World Series between the Mets and Red Sox.
Besides, that would just feel like a bad omen for Boston after taking Game 1 against the St. Louis Cardinals.
"Little roller up along first ... behind the bag! It gets through Buckner! Here comes Knight, and the Mets win it!"
