No Big Demand For Super Bowl Memorabilia In Tri-State Area This Year
FARMINGDALE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- In Jets and Giants territory, there has not exactly been big demand for Super Bowl memorabilia this year.
As WCBS 880's Mike Xirinachs reported, merchants have blamed indifference to the teams playing – the Baltimore Ravens and the San Francisco 49ers – for the slow sales.
No Big Demand For Super Bowl Memorabilia In Tri-State Area This Year
"We do have Ray Rice T-shirts with a Super Bowl patch on it," said Rob Allen, manager of Modell's sporting goods store in Farmingdale, Long Island. "We do have Ravens championship T-shirts and 49ers championship T-shirts."
But without a local team in the Big Game, there just isn't much excitement, Allen said. There is no team to love, and not even a team to hate.
"There isn't really any," Allen said. "But if you're a fan of the game, how can't you enjoy the Super Bowl? You know what I mean?"
Flip a coin, Allen advised, and root for the heads team.
